The Clinton River Oct 2009

Trees lying in the river force the current to dig deeper and gouge it out. When downed trees are in the way of canoes the normal treatment is to cut an opening in the center of the river to allow the canoes to float on through. The Clinton River is an excellent river for small boats. The head waters in Oakland County are fast and can be dangerous. Downstream in Macomb County the river is much more gentle, except during times of flood.
