Moravian Road Bridge
THIS SECTION OF TREE TRUNK WAS USED AS PART OF THE OLD COFFER DAM CONSTRUCTION FOR THE BRIDGE THAT IS BEING DISMANTLED. THEY HAVE POINT ON ONE END, RANGE IN DIAMETER FROM ABOUT 12-16” AND ARE ABOUT 5’ LONG. WHETHER THEY WERE CUT OFF AT TIME OF LAST CONSTRUCTION OF THE ROAD SUPPORT PILLARS OR JUST WORE DOWN FROM WATER AND TIME IS UNKNOWN. THEY WERE ALSO PULLED FROM THE RIVER WHEN THE OLD BRIDGE SUPPORT WAS BEING REMOVED. WHETHER THE BARK WAS REMOVED AT THE TIME OF USE OR OVER THE YEARS IS ALSO UNKNOWN BUT THE ENTIRE PIECES ARE SMOOTH. THERE ARE ABOUT A DOZEN OR THEM THAT WERE REMOVED INTACT.
