Canal Boat

The Clinton and Kalamazoo Canal had its eastern terminus in Clinton Township. There was one boat, The Uncle Peter, which transported cargo between Clinton Township and Utica for a couple years. The canal had been constructed to Rochester, but a barge had gotten stuck in an up stream lock and plugged up the system. Maxwell Heiderer constructed this model which represents 1/35 the size of a 100 ton canal boat. This is the stern of the boat. The top of the cabin comes off and the elaborate detail inside is visible.
